In 2007 the Bertone body shop released a concept car for a possible second generation of the Barchetta.
Built to commemorate the 95th anniversary of the famous company, the car was based on the Fiat Panda platform. With 100-hp, 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine. The wheels are 20-inch alloys with Pirelli 225/30R-20 tyres.
Two hand-beaten aluminium shells are connected by a wide glass surface that spans the doors, defining the Barchetta. Bertone invented the rear-opening doors, which are hinged around the rear wheel arch. LEDs and a closed, floating grille engraved in the metalwork adorn the front. Framed LEDs dominate the back of the car. A tiny luggage compartment is included, with a cover made of the same leather as the upholstery. The aluminium bodywork was divided into two pieces, with the glass surfaces of the doors connecting them.
The interior of the Barchetta is based on the 1947 Fiat 500 Barchetta. The leather-upholstered seats are moulded and attached directly into the metalwork. The same material was used for the luggage compartment cover. LED technology was utilised in the lighting system. Between the two seats is a console with a stowage tray and an iPod dock. The white-painted movable dash is anchored to two exposed rails. The gearshift is made from a solid billet of aluminium that has been machined.
