The Fiat 306 is a bus model produced by the Italian company Fiat Veicoli Industriali . It was launched in 1956 to replace the Fiat 682RN.

History

The Fiat 306 was derived from the truck of the same name: it was the first time that a bus was designed from scratch as such, and not as a particular arrangement of the mechanics of a truck.

The Fiat 306 was available in the classic 11-meter size in the form of a frame for the Cansa and external bodybuilders at Fiat itself, for line and grand touring versions. In particular it has been bodied by many coachbuilders such as Carrozzeria Orlandi and Officine Padane , Garbarini , Barbi , De Simon, Bianchi, Menarini , Viberti .Macchi will build a special versions.

The Fiat 306 was produced in 3 successive series, over 26 years: the 306/2 was launched in 1960, while the 306/3 in 1962, with a body that evolved with the times.

The new Fiat sole engine named for the very low form that allowed a central arrangement, under the floor. Several versions were produced with a T 4-speed with gearbox.:

  • Fiat 203 6-cylinder in-line, with a displacement of 10676 cc and delivering 140 hp .
  • Fiat 203H with 6 cylinders in line, with a displacement of 10676 cc and delivering 144 hp.
  • Fiat 203HS 6-cylinder in-line, with 10676 cc displacement and turbocharger, delivering 175 hp .
  • Fiat 203H / 61 with 6 cylinders in line, with a displacement of 11548 cc and delivering 173 hp .

The 306 production ceased in 1982, three years after the Fiat 308 and the Fiat 343 . All were replaced by the Iveco 370 launched in 1977 .
