The Fiat Perla is a car produced by the Italian car manufacturer FIAT for the Chinese market between 2006 and 2008 ,
History
The Fiat Perla is a result of a joint venture with the Chinese car manufacturer Nanjing Automobile .First Presented on September 14, 2006 in China , at the FIAT plant in Nanjing , the Fiat Perla is a three-volume sedan that is part of Project 178 consisting of a series of cars developed on the same project but adapted to the various regional realities in which they are produced . The production of all these interconnected models, including the Fiat Palio and Fiat Albea , started in 1996 in the Brazilian FIAT plants , followed by those located in Argentina ,Venezuela , Poland , Morocco and Turkey . With the new century, even the production units located in India , South Africa and Egypt have started churning out the same models.
The project was initially signed with the Chinese Nanjing Automobile with the consequent birth of Nanjing Fiat Automobile, then canceled in 2007 due to disagreements between the two houses. The official presentation, which occurred after the launch at the Motor Show in Guangzhou , took place in the presence of the major offices of Fiat and the then Prime Minister Romano Prodi .
Basically the car is the third generation of the Fiat Siena 2004 model slightly redesigned, especially in the front, and produced in China expressly for the Chinese market which has been given a specific design code or 311 .
The model was ended in 2008 due to the scarce requests and the breach of the agreement between the two manufacturers. From the 40,000 units planned each year, it fell to just over 5,000 cars. Coinciding with the production release, Fiat sold the Perla production lines to Zotye Automobili, which re-proposes the car under the name Zotye Z200 from early 2009 . The engine was a locally produced 1.6 cm³ 16V petrol version.
