The LV was introduced with a totally new cab designed by Gerald Broadbent in 1962 and was built untill 1974
History
First built in 1962 by Boalloy and then by J H Jennings. The old KV cab would remain available to order until 1966. The LV models were fitted with Fail Safe spring brakes by 1967, ERF was the first British truck manufacturer to adopt spring brakes.

1970s
The LV was built alongside the A Series by 1971. The A Series did not, contrary to popular belief, replace the LV variants. Up until 1975, when the B Series began to arrive in large numbers, many LVs were equipped with the 7LV and 8LV (cab over axle) cabs with large grilles. By 1972, all ERF LV and A Series chassis had a new chassis number designation system, which replaced the earlier 64, 66, 68, and other model designations with a new LAC, LAR, LAG, LBC, and other kind of chassis identification.ROLLS-ROYCE POWER E.R.F. 2 and 3 axle tractors proved to be reliable and
economical prime movers for long distance heavy haulage operators all over the British Isles. Still Entirely manufactured at Sandbach the tractors had been developed to meet the demands Of a rapidly expanding transport industry and particular attention has been paid to driver comfort and safety. Excellent all round visibility is provided from the comfortable driver's seat in the reinforced. sound damped. fibre glass cab. and the tractor is fitted with a fail safe braking system, and the spring actuated emergency and parking brake system fitted as standard on all E.R.F. vehicles has been developed and proved by their own engineers.
Spring brake actuators attached to the front and rear diaphragms are controlled from a valve in the cab. They are held in the off position by
air pressure and the spring automatically applies the brakes when there is a loss of air in the normal braking system. The fail safe brake is completely separate from the air braking system.
