Honda D12 engine Technical details (1988-1991)

The Honda D12 is an engine in-line 1.2 litres 4-cylinder petrol from Honda used from 1988 to 1991 in the Honda City and Civic.

History

The Honda D-series engine is an automotive internal combustion, four-stroke gasoline, in-line 4-cylinder internal combustion heat engine used in a multitude of compact Honda vehicles, more commonly used in a variety of compact models, most commonly the Honda Civic, CRX, Logo, Stream, and first-generation Integra. It is the successor engine to the conventional ER, EV and EW types. Their displacements vary from 1 234 cm 3 to 1668 cm 3, there are single overhead camshaft and double overhead camshaft versions, some of which are single-shaft versions in VTEC or E-VTEC the power varies from 62 to 130 horses. The “d-series” blocks were produced from 1984 until 2005. in the Civic Si. D-series production commenced 1984 and ended 2005. D-series engine technology culminated with production of the D15B 3-stage VTEC (D15Z7) which was available in markets outside of the United States.

Earlier versions of this engine also used a single port fuel injection system Honda called PGM-CARB, signifying the carburettor was computer controlled.Carburettor (down draft, fixed venturi and side draft, variable venturi type) and PGM-FI (multi-point and dual point- throttle body injection) specifications are available for the fuel supply system according to the vehicle type and emission regulations of the country where it is sold.
