The M 115 Daimler -Benz designated a series of four cylinder inline engines .
The Mercedes-Benz 200/220 / 230.4 (W 115 "stroke-eight", to 1976) or 200/230 W 123 (from 1976), the SUV 230 G (W 460, 1979 to 1985), and the Mercedes-Benz vans 408/409 T 2 "Transporter" from 1968 and 208/308 T 1 "Transporter" from 1977 all had petrol engines with displacements of 2.0, 2.2 and 2.3 litres.
The engine is a slightly modified successor to the M 121, with a countercurrent aluminium alloy cylinder head and a five-bearing crankshaft in a cast iron engine block. The overhead camshaft (overhead camshaft) is driven by a roller chain and activated by two valves per cylinder through rocker arms. The M 115 was superseded by the newly developed M 102 with Crossflow cylinder head in the Mercedes 200/230 of the W 123 series in 1980.
