The Cadillac Fleetwood Eldorado eighth generation was a 2-door hardtop car built from 1967 to 1970.

History

The 1967 Eighth generation Eldorado was a great departure from previous generations of Cadillac. The Eldorado was completely redesigned for 1967 as a front-wheel drive hardtop six-passenger coupe, becoming the brand's first entry to capitalize on the era's personal luxury car market, it shared the E-body basic shell with the second-generation Buick Riviera and the first-generation Oldsmobile Toronado, which had been introduced the previous year. Making the Eldorado now much shorter and lower than even the smallest Cadillacs made. But because of its drivetrain layout could still provide room for six-passengers.

The Cadillac adapted a 429 V8 to a Turbo-Hydramatic 425 automatic transmission. With changes needed to the engine mount system for the change of drive along with many other changes such as exhaust manifolds, to fit to the new platform. Now bigger power brake booster.  Disc brakes were still optional, but now new standard safety equipment included an energy absorbing steering column and padded instrument panel. The Eldorado featured concealed, horizontally mounted headlamps.

The styling initiated by GM styling chief Bill Mitchell, was now more distinctive leading to the design changes up to the 70s, now more angular. This was also the only Cadillac to be equipped with concealed headlights behind vacuum operated doors. Performance and handling were highly praised, and sales were excellent despite high list prices with sales of 17,930 Other options such as Auxiliary horn, Automatic level control option, Automatic Climate Control,
Cruise control and Rear window defogger. Also Rear quarter power ventipanes.
