The Fairthorpe TX was a British sports car built from 1965 and 1969.

History

The Coupe TX was a small British sports car from the 1960s, of which about 50 copies were made.The body was a coupé in plastic materials with 2 doors and 2 seats and carrying capacity of 353 1b, 160 kg. The prototype TX I of 1965 had a four-cylinder engine from Ford and convertible, while the production models from 1967 were  fixed head GT body equipped with a six-cylinder engine, 1998 cc displacement and 95-140 hp.With a max speed of 112 mph, 180.3 km/h Fuel consumption of 26.5 m/imp gal, 22.2 m/US gal, 10.61 X 100 km  .Price in basic form  £ 1,310 (GB).

Standard equipment on this car includes full instrumentation of speedometer, tacho meter, oil pressure and temperature gauge. water temperature gauge. Fuel gauge and heater, seat belts, map reading light. tool kit. jack. spape wheel.

Options included:wire wheels; light alloy wheels; Leather upholstered seats, radio, windscreen washer, heated rear window , 3.890 axle ratio and tuned engines from stage I to stage V with 160 hp.

Chassis was a double backbone type, with channel section with outriggers.front suspension: independent, wishbones, coil springs, anti-roll bar, telescopic dampers.The rear suspension: independent, longitudinal trailing arms, transverse arms from top of articulated uprights to ends of longitudinal trailing arms (Torix-Bennett system),coil springs and telescopic dampers. 

Steering of rack-and-pinion type with turns of steering wheel lock to lock of : 4.25. Brakes came with front disc and rear drums.

Performance: max speeds: 36 mph, 58 km/h in 1st gear; 54 mph, 87 km/h in 2nd gear; 77 mph, 124 km/h in 3rd gear; 97 mph, 156.2 km/h in 4th gear; and 112 mph,180.3 km/h in overdrive/top.
