William T. Terwilliger & Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles in the early part of the 20th century.
The brothers Terwilliger experimented from 1897 on steam cars . In 1902 they founded the company in Amsterdam in the US state of New York . Only in 1904 began production and marketing of automobiles. The brand name was Empire , possibly with the addition Steam . In the same year the production ended.
A steam engine with two cylinders was mounted in the rear. With 15 hp . The boiler was under the front seat. The chassis had 221 cm wheelbase . The construction was a five-seat tonneau with tailgate. The original price was $2000 .
There was no connection to Sterling Automobile & Engine Company and Empire Automobile Company , which also marketed vehicles as Empire .
