WL Elliott Motor Carriage Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .The brand name was Elliott .

History

William L. Elliott operated the company in Oakland , California . There he produced automobiles between 1897 and 1899.  In March 1900 he offered an engine. After that, the track of the company loses. Elliott stated in an interview in 1907 that three vehicles were built. 

The vehicles had gasoline engines and were among the first of its kind, which were manufactured on the west coast of the United States . 

The first vehicle of 1897 had a single-cylinder engine with 2 hp , the engine power was transmitted via belts to a countershaft and from there to the rear axle. The open body weighed about 272 kg and could accommodate two people. Hamilton reached the top of Mount Hamilton during a test drive . The brakes failed on the descent. 

In April 1899, two more vehicles were created. One of them was intended for personal use. The other was sold for over $1,200 . In addition, it was announced that to order more vehicles for $ 800 would be made.
