Vandegrift Automobile Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles in the early part of the 20th century. The brand name was Autocycle .
Henry G. Morris and Pedro G. Salom had already manufactured motor vehicles between 1894 and 1897 at their company Morris & Salom in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania . In 1906 they made a second attempt. To do so, they founded a new company in the same city in the summer of 1906.
They started with the production of automobiles. By the end of 1907 the production ended.
The only model had an unusual wheel arrangement. The single front wheel was steered, the single rear wheel was propelled while two smaller wheels in the vehicle center should serve the balance . An air-cooled two-cylinder engine with 6 HP output drove over belts to the rear wheel. The wheelbase was 191 cm and the curb weight 172 kg.
