The Tilling Stevens TS series chassis was introduced in 1914, as the third version of petrol electric chassis to be produced by this manufacturer.
The TS3, as this version was classified was offered with either 13ft 6in or 14ft 6in wheelbase, enabling it to be fitted with most types of single or double deck bodywork.
The engine is a Tilling Stevens 4-cylinder 40hp petrol engine, this being directly coupled to a compound wound generator supplying current to a series wound motor which in turn drives the worm geared rear axle via a propeller shaft.
No gearbox is fitted speeds and torque being varied by controlling resistances in the field winding of the generator and a shunt across the series windings of the motor. only rear controlled by the foot pedal whilst the other is operated by the hand lever.
In 1923, the TS3 was superseded by the TS6, which had 50hp 4-cylinder petrol engine production ended in 1926
