The 407 Coupe is a saloon coupe of the French car manufacturer Peugeot and the third body variant of the 407 built around 2 years after the first launch, as Phase I: 2005 - 2008 and Phase II: 2008 - 2012 .
History
Presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2005, it succeeds the Peugeot 406 coupé designed by Pininfarina . The 407 Coupe was announced a few months earlier by the prototype 407 Prologue, already resolutely faithful to the final model.
The design is by Gérard Welter , director of the Peugeot Style Center. Compared to its predecessor, stylistically more detached from the 406 sedan, the 407 Coupé shows a clear stylistic kinship with the sedan version. The major differences are the thickness of the Coupé, lower and slimmer than the sedan and the large front mouth surrounded by three slots on each side, similar to gills. The central pillars, which are barely mentioned on the sedan, disappear completely here, making the line even cleaner. The rear is also strongly redesigned, with a bumper massive, completely smooth, and new, more streamlined optics. The side slits on the front bumper are not used to pass air to the cabin, they are present only for design. The only common parts of the coupe and sedan are the hulls of exterior mirrors. It's the biggest coupé produced by Peugeot .
Equipped with the most powerful engine (3.0 V6 HDi 241), the 407 coupe has a power ratio of 7.5 kg / hp.The 407 coupe uses ventilated disc brakes on the front and full on the rear.
It is equipped with dual-zone air conditioning and reversing radar. The glazed surfaces are made of laminated glass, allowing better isolation of external noises. In addition, the windshield is equipped with an athermic treatment to let the light while filtering infrared radiation, a source of undesirable heat.
