The Opel 1.8 liters was a car model of the Adam Opel AG in Rüsselsheim, which was manufactured from 1931 to 1933.

History

The 1.8 liter was introduced in 1931 as the successor of the 8/40 hp . The midsize car had a smaller engine than its predecessor. This engine was a six-cylinder in - line engine with 1790 cc displacement (bore × stroke = 65 mm × 90 mm) and side valves . The engine was powered by a single Solex gasifier. The power was 32 hp (23.5 kW) at 3200 / min. The maximum torque of 100 Nm was already at 1000 / min. reached.

The engine power was transmitted via a single-disc dry clutch, a manual three-speed gearbox and a differential on the rear axle to the rear wheels. Initially, the 1.8 liter reached a top speed of 85 km / h, but from 1933 the engine output increased to 33.5 hp (24.6 kW) and the top speed to 90 km / h.

The chassis consisted of U-profiles and the two rigid axles hung on semi-elliptical longitudinal plate springs, which were provided with hydraulic shock absorbers . The drum brakes on all four wheels were cable-operated. The 1.8 liter was available in a number of body styles, such as touring car with four seats, two-door coupe, two-door convertible, two- and four-door sedans.

From 1932 there was an additional, more luxurious variant called 1.8 liter Regent .s. Technically, the Regent corresponded to the base model of the 1.8 liter with 32 hp. This car was also available as a two-door roadster or as a four-door Pullman sedan. This luxury car also benefited from the technical changes of 1933.With only 1,928 made of the luxury car

End of 1933, the production of 1.8 liters was discontinued after 32.285 copies. The Opel 6 was his successor.
