Formtool Engineering Limited was a New Zealand manufacturer of automobiles . The brand name was Beattie .
The Auckland-based company began producing automobiles in 1997 under the leadership of Stephen Beattie.
The offer was a racing sports car that was street legal. It resembled the sports car of Lola Cars and Lotus Cars of the late 1960s.
A grid frame of tubes with 214 cm wheelbase formed the base. Then a body made of glass fiber reinforced plastic. The rear suspension came from the Ford Escort . There were two different four-cylinder engines available for the drive . The engine of the Ford Cortina with overhead camshaft made 132 kW (180 hp ) of 2000 cc displacement , the motor of Toyota made 147 kW (200 hp) from the same 2l capacity.
In 2001 the production ended.
