The Mitsubishi Endeavor is a sport utility vehicle of the Japanese automaker Mitsubishi Motors, which was built from spring 2003 to summer 2011 exclusively for North America .The Endeavor came as a successor of the Mitsubishi Challenger for model year 2004 on the market. It was the first model of Mitsubishi's "Project America" dedicated to vehicles designed specifically for the North American market. In the manufacturer's model range, the Endeavor is positioned above the Outlander and competed with models such as the Honda Pilot or the Toyota Highlander .

First launched in January 2003 at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Endeavorwas designed by the design team around David O'Connell. Characteristic are above all the widely issued wheel arches and the associated lateral body extensions in the door area. The front is characterized by a Mitsubishi emblem divided grille with horizontal slats and straight, large headlamps. At the rear there is a separately openable and downwardly convex rear window and very narrow and far outward rear lights. The latter are widened towards the center by triangular reflectors. Another unusual design feature for SUVs is the free-standing exterior mirrors, which are painted black or body-colored depending on the model. The interior of the designed as a five-seater Endeavoris similar to the wide, T-shaped center console of the American Mitsubishi Galant .

The standard equipment LS initially included air conditioning, a CD radio, 17-inch wheels, a speed control system and power windows and mirrors. In the higher-end versions XLS and Limited were depending on an alarm system, climate control, heated leather seats and a CD changer added. The safety equipment included in the model year 2004 a traction control, ABS and driver and passenger airbags, side airbags only from XLS . During the construction period, the latter as well as head airbags and ESP were fitted as standard in all models.

Based on Mitsubishi PS platform, which also use the Galant, the Eclipse and the 380 , a front-wheel drive ground group was created, which could only be combined with the Endeavor optionally with four-wheel drive . The engine was exclusively a 3.8-liter V6 gasoline engine in conjunction with a 4- speed automatic transmissionavailable. This internal 6G75 engine was also used in the other models of the PS platform and the Pajero . In the endeavor He initially made 160 kW and was increased to model year 2005 to 168 kW.

In early 2006, the Endeavor was slightly revised. Especially the narrower and depending on the model chrome-plated grille with two instead of four slats and a new front bumper with larger fog lights and indicated underrun protection mark the facelifted version. At the rear, meanwhile, there is a lowered rear apron, also with indicated underrun protection. In the interior, only minor improvements have been made.

In the summer of 2009, there was a renewed facelift. At the front, it mainly concerned the radiator grille, which no longer had a vertical division and could do without lamellae. The biggest changes took place at the rear: there was a modified tailgate with a new rear window and a chrome trim. In addition, the tail lights were widened and the function of opening the rear window separately accounted for. Detail changes in the interior, for example, related to a new control unit for the ventilation and air conditioning. The expanded standard equipment of the now more LS (base) and SE (higher-quality version) equipment lines included fog lights, a tire pressure monitoring system, a Bluetooth hands-free system and body color painted bumpers, exterior mirrors and door handles. For the first time, there were also 18-inch alloy wheels for the SE version.

In August 2011, the production ended and the Mitsubishi Challenger II took over the succession in some markets.
