Electraction (Elec-Traction) is a British manufacturer of electric vehicles that started in the 1970s.
History
Founded in 1976, Roy Haynes formed ElecTraction Ltd Maldon, Essex and designed several electric vehicles through his other company Roy Haynes Automotive International. Electraction built its reputation by supplying quality products from the world’s leading manufacturers and is amongst the largest worldwide producers of industrial batteries independently or in conjunction with partners. Along with custom and bespoke electric vehicles. Originally from Maldon, Essex in the United Kingdom later located also in Ireland.
Due to the rising cost of fuel in the fuel crisis of the 1970s, small electric cars were again seen as a viable option once more, such as had previously been seen at the very start of the automobile to the ever-decreasing supply of fossil fuels and global warming today. The company started in 1976 with the production of these small type electric cars. such as electric sports cars and micro cars. The prototype Tropicana Electraction's open 2/3-seater sports vehicle built on a light weight chassis with glass fibre body on a galvanised steel tubular chassis paved the way, other vehicles were soon added including small commercial vans and pickups. Built only untill 1979.
