The Jimenez Novia is a supercar designed and built by French motorcycle racer Ramon Jimenez near Avignon . Jimenez and a small team of engineers were on their own. No large group was involved in the development or construction. In 1994, the first copy of the Novia was completed after about 10 years of development and construction. Originally a small-scale production was by the SA Jimenez motor in Monteux , but until today no other Novia has been built. Furthermore, it was also thought about Le Mans missions and an off-road variant.
At the heart of the Novia is the W16 five-valve engine with 4118 cm³ displacement, installed longitudinally behind the two seats . The engine is an in-house development based on four Yamaha motorcycle engines and is said to deliver 560 hp (412 kW) at 10,000 rpm and develop a torque of 432 Nm at 7500 rpm. The engine power is transmitted via a 6-speed manual transmission to the rear axle. The car accelerates in 3.0 seconds from 0 to 100 km / h and reaches a top speed of 380 km / h.
The aerodynamic body is remarkable. It is made entirely of carbon and sits on an aluminum honeycomb chassis . This design pushes the total weight to just 890 kg, resulting in a power to weight ratio of only 1.6 kg / hp. Nevertheless, the Novia is not a hard, uncomfortable racing car. It is lined with leather and fine rugs and even air conditioned .
