Ford P100 Pick up Second generation
|1987 to 1992|
Body versions :
Already by the English sister model of the predecessor Taunus, the Ford Cortina P100 pickup based on the two-door sedan was built in South Africa . This was also imported to some European countries.
After Ford had withdrawn from South Africa in 1987, developed on the basis of the Sierra '87 a new pickup model. Here, parts of the Sierra and the Transit were used unlike the sierra rear leaf springs used on a steel chassis rear end with double skined rear bed but with the sierra front end and dash features. With a gross vehicle weight of 2440 kg, the payload was up to about one tonne with a loading bed length of 2130 mm.
The P100 was powered by the OHC engine with 1993 cc and 57 kW (78 hp), but here had a lower compression and a lower torque. In addition, a new 1753 cc turbo diesel engine with 55 kW (75 hp) was available. Parallel to the Sierra, the P100 also received modernization from early 1990 and late 1991.
The P100 was manufactured in Portugal from October 1987 to December 1992 .
