First appearing in 1946, the Crossley DD42/3 model is a 7ft 6in wide double-decker with a wheelbase of 16ft 71/2in. It is powered by a Crossley 6-cylinder oil engine of 8.6 litres capacity and was available with either a 4-speed constant mesh gearbox and single plate clutch or a fully automatic system using a Brockhouse Turbo Transmitter.

The brakes are of the triple servo type and Crossley bodywork was offered for fitting to this chassis. Production of the DD42/3 ceased in 1948 upon the introduction of the DD42/7 model.
