Kaiser Jeep Corporation
Automotive manufacturer of United States of America from 1963 to 1970.
The Kaiser Jeep Corporation in Toledo (Ohio) was formed in 1963 by renaming the Willys Motor Company . The owner Kaiser Industries wanted to unite all his companies under the group name.
History
Kaiser Jeep took over the entire Jeep range, for example the Jeep CJ , the Jeep FC and the Jeep Wagoneer , from the Willys Motor Company .
In 1967, the company also retrieved the Jeepster, the Willys Overland had produced from 1948 to 1950. The car was completely redesigned, but based on the CJ. The Jeepster was available in three versions (Roadster, Cabriolet and Pickup). The success on the market was limited.
AMC looked around for an expansion of its product range and had already occasionally negotiated with Kaiser managers. In 1970, the purchase contract was signed and Emperor Jeep became Jeep Corporation , a 100% subsidiary of AMC.
1987/1988 AMC and thus Jeep was taken over by Chrysler .
