Specter Supersports Limited was a British manufacturer of sports automobiles .
Ray Christopher founded the company in 1994 in Poole , County Dorset . He started producing automobiles and kits . The brand name was Specter . In 2009 the production ended. Also later as Specter Cars UK Limited of Tilbrook near Milton Keynes .
The first model R 42 was taken over by GTD . This was a supercar inspired by Group C racing cars . The base was a monocoque. Then a coupe body was mounted. A V8 engine from Ford with 4,600 cc displacement and 350 hp was in mid engine design mounted behind the seats and drove to the rear axle. The maximum speed was stated at 175 MPH. From this model between 1994 and 1997 around 36 copies were created price for the complete car £69.950 inc Vat.
The Spectre R42 's extremely rigid composite monocoque chassis features race-style suspension with a carbon-reinforced composite body. The result is an extremely light super car with electrifying performance. Its low weight coupled with power assisted steering provide a combination of excellent ride quality and true race car handling. Constructed with the GT Championship in mind, the Spectre R42 is also designed to be equally suited to leisurely cruising. It is extremely fast when overtaking, thanks to the 32 valve Ford V8's ample torque from low revs. At high revs, the 4.6 litre quad cam engine explodes with power and catapults you from 0 to 60 mph in just 4 seconds and then, furiously accelerates you to the governed top speed of 175 mph (285 km/h). The specially designed AP load-racing brake system brings you down from high speed effortlessly without fading.

The successor R 45 was slightly revised in terms of chassis and body, better equipped and had in contrast to the folding headlights of the previous model fixed headlights.
