Duplex was a British automobile brand , which was owned by the British Commercial Lorry & Engineering Co. ltd. produced at Trafford Park in Manchester from 1919 to 1921 .
The Duplex 10 hp was a light, two-seat touring car that appeared in 1919. This had an eight-cylinder in-line engine with 1.5 l displacement. The cylinders were divided into two parallel cylinder banks of four cylinders (not a V-engine). The engine with sleeve valves according to the Knight principle controlled and gave (16.2 kW) at 2000 min 22 bhp. The wheelbase of the unusual car was 2,692 mm.
In 1920, the duplex 10/20 hp replaced the 10 hp. This had an ordinary, side-valve equipped four-cylinder inline engine (24.3 kW) 33 bhp at 3,000 rpm this was was supplied by Coventry-Simplex . The wheelbase remained unchanged. brand disappeared from the market in 1921.
