Brit Engineering Works , formerly Hunt's Steam Sawmills & Carriage Accessories and EA Chard & Company , was a British manufacturer of marine engines and automobiles in the early part of the 20th century . 

History

John Hunt had already experimented with machines in Bedminster . In 1902 he founded the company Hunt's Steam Sawmills & Carriage Accessories in Bridport and started with the production of automobiles. The brand name was Brit . Later, boat engines were added. In 1903, the name change to EA Chard & Company 1905 ended the car production. Since 1935 the name Brit Engineering Works ltd. The production of boat engines ran until 1963.

The first model was based on a Daimler model. Hunt mounted a self-developed two-cylinder engine and a larger radiator. Later The offered self-developed vehicles
