AVC (Alternative Vehicle Center)
Alternative Vehicle Center was a British manufacturer of kit car automobiles .
Terry Sands founded the company in Redditch , County Worcestershire , in 1985 after leaving Sheldonhurst . He started producing automobiles and kits . The brand name was AVC . In 1990 the production ended. In total over 500 copies were created. Sands production took off in 1997 in his new company Legend Motor Company continued.
The California and Speedster models were replicas of the Porsche 356 , as they were previously manufactured by Sheldonhurst. Added to this was the 550 Spyder , a replica of the 1950's Porsche 550 .
The mongoose was inspired by a Ford Model T racing car model from around 1927. The base was a Ford Cortina . Then an open two-seater body was mounted. AVC made about 50 copies.
In addition, made between 1985 and 1986, some conversions of the VW Beetle in convertibles , which were called Apollo .
