This 18 seat bus from Bean was a British single-deck small Bus first built in the 1920s .
Bean had started to produce small trucks for commercial use then later a larger truck was launched, now with a payload capacity of 30cwt (1500 kg).The vehicles mainly appeared as lorries, but vans, coaches and light buses were introduced in 1926, this particular Bean model bus with 18 seats ,has a wheelbase of 11ft 11/4in and is a normal control type chassis some small 14 buses also made.
First with a 2.4-litre 14hp engine and later fitted with a 4-cylinder petrol engine of 46bhp it has a single plate clutch, 4-speed sliding mesh gearbox and spiral bevel rear axle. Mechanical brakes operate on the rear wheels only.
Like the trucks, the 25 cwt. chassis was replaced by a 30 cwt by 1928 for a short time as production of the bus ended in 1928. This was then replaced in 1929 by the more powerfull Empire model untill the company closed shortly after this.
