The British military deployed a large number of modified civilian vehicles for up to two tons .Electrical systems were swapped from 6-volt type to the military-standard 12-volts system, shortening the passenger compartment and mounting a cargo bed in the rear, such as a pickup truck with canvas back and around 10 to 30 bhp .
