The BMW Alpina B3 3.3 for the E46 was built from 1999 to 2006 by Alpina in various body versions of the 3 series BMW.

History

As from 1999 the new BMW Alpina B3 3.3 came for the new E46 series. In 1998, a prototype using the 3.2 L engine from the B3 3.2 was previously unveiled at the Birmingham Auto Show. The production model was formally presented at the 1999 Geneva Motor Show and the estate station wagon at the 2000 Birmingham Auto Show.

The body base was initially offered by the 328i (M52TÜ) and later the 330i (M54). The following model variants were available: sedan, coupe, cabriolet (convertible) and the estate station wagon (touring version).

For both E46-B3 models, Alpina used the E36-US-M3 cast-iron engine block (S52B32/US) as the basis and modified it, since both the M52TÜ and the M54 engine block were not suitable for it.
