History
The vehicle was built without official order by the British bus manufacturer Associated Equipment Company (AEC) on the basis of the information that became known about the battles in the North African theater of war.
AEC used the chassis of the Matador truck, changed it for the purpose, and placed a heavily armored body with the tower of a Valentine's tank with its 2-pounder cannon on it. it came in 3 versions the AEC Mk I with Ordnance QF 2 pounders The Mk I was first used in combat in the African Campaign in 1942, ,the AEC Mk II got a 3-man tower with an electric traverse and a 6-pounder cannon (57 mm) and the AEC Mk III wore an American 75mm tank cannon of the M3.
The AEC had either a two- or four-wheel drive and a steering of the front wheels. Negative, however, were its high profile and its angular appearance, which he was difficult to camouflage during exploration. The AEC should support the lighter Daimler and Humber . He was later used in Italy and by Yugoslav partisans. Some later went to Belgium. The total production of all models amounted to only 629 .
